The year starts with a workshop facilitated by poet in residency Andrew McMillan at the Feb (28th) BWC meeting. The following month, on March 27th, the BWC meeting will feature readings of member entries to this years Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival - creative writing competition. As well as the AGM. the April meeting will feature a first for the BWC a 'Literary Quiz' <I'm assured it wont be too taxing thank goodness> with prizes for the winners.
For May discussions are in hand that we hope will result in a very special 'Dylan Thomas' evening with guest speaker. The renowned BWC 'Open Mike' is scheduled to take place on 3rd July - more details will be posted on the website nearer the date. This event is open to absolutely anyone and if you are shy of reading your own work, a BWC member will happily read you poem, ballad or sonnet on your behalf.
As well as all the events listed above, BWC hopes to be able to shortly announce that it has become a member organisation of the National Association of Writers' Circles. This will open up the prospect of reduced price or even FREE entry to national and regional writing competitions plus the opportunity to attend the National Festival and receive copies of the 'LINK newsletter.
