Tony Corbin posted a discussionHi.
I am a long-time member of the BWC - my eighth year I think. Joining coincided with an employment <contract> gap and a realisation that although throughout my career I'd written presentations, articles and speeches, I'd never had the time to write about something of my choosing.
But how/where to start? Well BWC has been a great learning environment for me - friendly bunch too. I also took one of these on-line courses where I learnt about the importance of characters, sense of place, plot, structure et al.
I have written some children's stories, by now dozens of what I would call observational, pointed and/or witty versus technically excellent (or pastoral) and a range of short stories. I've won the odd competition prize on the way, had the odd worked locally published, but to be honest that's not the be all and end all for me.
Instead, when the mood takes me I write (and I photograph nature, sea and landscapes too - go to www.clikpic.com/tonycorbin to view and take a look at the on-line gallery). As they... say for every picture...well I've certainly written many more than 1000 words.
