We are pleased to announce that noted poet (and poet in residence) Andrew McMillan will be hosting our February meeting at the URC, London Street, Basingstoke (8-10pm). This will be an open (to the public) meeting with a £2.50 entry fee to cover room hire and refreshments.

Andrew has been quoted as saying 'poetry shouldn't be about the extraordinary, it should be about taking the ordinary and showing it to be extraordinary'. This is very much reflected in his latest published work 'Every Salt Advance (Red Squirrel Press) which exudes tenderness not mawkishness and is described in the foreword by Paul Farley as 'intoxicating, not intoxicated'

Andrew will talk about his work and his 'poet in residency' role before inviting the audience to participate in some practical creative writing activities. He will also preview his planned workshop at the Willis Museum on 1st March.
