Next Meeting Tues May 22nd 8.00pm

The main items for the May meeting will be the BWC Quiz and a tutorial on how to access and review travel anthology material in the internet based BWC Dropbox.  

New prospective members are especially welcome and can attend their first (sampler) meeting without charge. Otherwise there is the usual  £2.50 entry fee to cover the United Reformed Church room hire as well as refreshments,

The Basingstoke Writers’ Circle (BWC) meets as an informal group of friendly, local, amateur poetry and prose writers. We are not a tutored class but instead offer encouragement, support and if asked, direction and coaching for our members.

Exciting BWC Plans for 2012

The year starts with a workshop facilitated by poet in residency Andrew McMillan at the Feb (28th) BWC meeting. The following month, on March 27th, the BWC meeting will feature readings of member entries to this years Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival - creative writing competition. As well as the AGM. the April meeting will feature a first for the BWC a 'Literary Quiz' <I'm assured it wont be too taxing thank goodness> with prizes for the winners.

The Fun Factor in Poetry

You don't have to be an expert, technically profficient or a rival to Wordsworth to pen an acceptable poem..As you will see from the two examples, simple rhymes, almost ballad style, can usually raise a smile or two, especially when commenting on some of the more puzzling and perplexing aspects of society or our modern world.
